Pre-school Pricing and Funded Early Learning

We encourage all classrooms to spend time outdoors throughout the year. We have access to a small courtyard on site, and have the use of the grounds within the sports club we are situated in. We do this to facilitate more outdoor learning, especially through the spring/summer. We often go on additional walks around the community and take public transport (covid permitting) around the city to local attractions. These excursions do need additional staff and resources but are vital for providing a link to our community.

We have two Early Years Teachers in our Pre-School and one in our 2-3yr classroom, who make a positive contribution to our setting by modelling and coaching other staff to deliver high quality practice throughout nursery. They are effective nursery teachers, delivering the curriculum, alongside planning, and implementing appropriate learning experiences within a stimulating learning environment. They evaluate provision and practice which contributes to quality improvement throughout the nursery. They plan, organise and resource a classroom environment which facilitates children’s autonomous, independent learning and enables children to maximise their full potential. Whilst maintaining good partnerships with parents/carers, outside agencies, colleagues & children, including good home-school links. We believe these EYT’s are invaluable to the children in our care. Because of this, fees are slightly higher in our Pre-school than in the other classrooms (for children not claiming funding).

£45 for 8-1/1-6 session
£60 for 9-4 session
£9 per additional hour 3yo funding

For our valuable customers who were attending ACN prior to receiving funding, a loyalty discount will be applied to any paid for hours which children attend outside of their funded entitlement. This discount will ensure the price for non funded hours/sessions in pre-school will cost the equivalent to that in the other classrooms

From the beginning of the term after your child is 3yrs old you can claim the governments Funded Early Learning (FEL)& Extended Funded Entitlement (EFE) for your child’s nursery care. Abbeydale Cottage Nursery is offering these funded hours throughout the full academic year rather than through term time only, and hence you can claim up to 22.5hrs p/w x51 weeks as opposed to the government advertised 30hrs p/w x38 weeks. You will be able to use the funding on ANY HOUR you attend, up to the maximum of 22.5hrs p/w. These funded hours will have an additional charge of £3 p/h or £4p/h for a meal hour. This charge is for us to be able to continue offering the same level of care and education to all children and to cover additional costs for resources/activities/consumables and outings.

If you wish to attend for longer than the funded allowance of 22.5 hrs, extra hours can be added either side of a session and charged at the non-funded hourly rate.

If children are claiming funding they will no longer be given an annual holiday allowance, nor will sibling discount apply. How to applyIf you think you may be eligible for EFE, you will need to follow to the below link and firstly set up a government gateway account with HMRC, and apply for the EFE, this should take approximately 20 minutes and you will need the following information to get started:

Your Childs DOB, yours and your partners NI number, your unique Taxpayer reference number (if you are self-employed). The date you started or are due to start employment, any other government support you get. https://www.gov.uk/help-with-childcare-costs/free-childcare-and-education-for-2-to-4-year-olds

Why there are additional charges when claiming FEL/EFE?

The cost of delivering childcare to parents/children far exceeds the value of funding received from the Government. At Abbeydale Cottage Nursery we strive to offer the best care we can. To maintain this high level of service, care and education to all children, there are additional charges alongside the funded hours. These charges are for resources, outings, meals & consumables including nappy changing  etc. Alongside high-quality provision and staffing over and above what is required at an early year setting.
