At nursery we encourage and praise positive, caring and polite behaviour within an environment where children learn to respect themselves and others.
Restrictions on a child’s natural desire to explore, test and develop their own ideas are kept to a minimum. However, children need to have boundaries for their own safety and that of their peers. We aim to set these boundaries in a way which helps the child develop a sense of the significance of their own behaviour.
We understand that children may use certain behaviours such as biting as part of their development. Biting is a common behaviour in young children who have not yet developed adequate verbal and emotional skills to express their frustration or needs.
If biting persists, your key worker will discuss a management plan with you; designed to support your child and protect other children or staff members.
Our behaviour policy is available on reception and on this website.
