Spring Newsletter May 2021

Friday, September 17, 2021

Firstly I would like to give a very heartfelt thanks to all of you for your generosity towards the fundraising, from donating towards the raffle and purchasing raffle tickets and for supporting our sponsored walk helping to support the Sheffield's Children's hospital charity, The bears of Sheffield.

So far we have raised a staggering £2,429.20 and money is still coming in!

We will start decorating the bear in the coming weeks with the children's handprints from each classroom then the bear will be sent into the town centre to go on display.

Simone is not at work at the moment due to the sudden passing of her partner and father of their two girls, this is a devastating time for the family and our condolences go out to them at this very sad time.

Yellow Room

Can we ask parents to be patient when you ring the doorbell as the staff may be putting one of the babies down for a nap or be in the middle of feeding, they will get to the door as soon as possible, please only ring the bell once, they know you are waiting, they will be continuing with lots of springtime crafts and learning about growing as they plant some cress seeds and watch them grow. and enjoying getting out and about including trips to the woods and exploring the outdoors.

Red Room

Red room will be spending more time outside as the weather gets warmer building on the physical development and understanding of the world. Can we please remind you all to send in sunscreen and sun hats with your Childs name clearly marked.

Our new book of the month is called Tanka, Tanka Skunk and the children will be making their own drums to use at singing and story times, share your ideas with us via famly.

We will also be having a holiday themed week which will include a beach day, airport in our role play and an ice cream parlour.

Michelle will be working on a new art project and sharing the works of Keith Haring.

Hopefully, we will be slowly introducing our cosy things back into the classroom along with being able to use soft play.

Orange Room

We would like to welcome Simone who has joined us and is sharing the role of room leader with myself allowing me some much-needed time out of the classroom to work with our students who are working hard on their NVQ's and freeing up some time liaise with Parents if needed.

We would like to congratulate all our expectant Parents and those with new arrivals it fits very well with our topic of new life and all things that grow.

We will be planting seeds and talking about how to care for living things such as giving plants a drink and plenty of sunshine.

Some of our children are showing signs of potty training and wanting to use the toilet so we are working closely with parents to master this art which varies from child to child, there is no pressure and most certainly no rush, just let us know when you think your child is ready and we will be here to support you.

Blue Room

Blue room have started doing lots of outdoor learning, den building, creating new spaces and using a variety of new tools, Kim and Frances are currently working towards their forest school level 3 and Kim is now our outdoor learning co-ordinator and Deputy room leader in Blue.

They will be preparing the older children for school readiness and continuing with their parent partnership board so keep your lovely photos coming from home about our shared topics as this really benefits the children in their shared discussions.

Hopefully, we will have our cosy things and soft play back soon.

Kind regards

Fiona
